CEDIA 2011: Atlantic Technology’s PowerBar 235: a SoundBar without a Subwoofer

by Michael Riesenbeck on Sep 7, 2011 at 08:58 AM

AtlanticSoundBars are all the rage these days. Now you might think that if you’ve read about one, you’ve read about them all. But the PowerBar 235, which is being introduced by Atlantic Technology at the 2011 Custom Electronic Design and Installation Association Expo, is a little different. The PowerBar 235 is the first SurroundBar that packs ample punch without a subwoofer.

The PowerBar 235’s cabinet, which can be wall mounted or inverted for shelf mounting, is 42- x 5¼- x 5¾-inches. The cabinet is capable of bass response of 47 Hz at -3dB. The unit also benefits from Atlantic Technology’s H-PAS Hybrid Pressure Acceleration System that combines several speaker technologies in one.

Atlantic Technology is marketing the PowerBar 235 for use in bedrooms, dorm rooms, or small apartments. The unit features a built-in digital amp and DSP surround sound processor, and H-PAS allows for deep base with very little distortion.
